Are You Willing to Catch the Updraft?

The flames of truth and love flicker and flare in the eyes of our King. There is no mistaking or misreading His intentions. He is not at all subtle, and He is purposeful in His pursuit. Why? because it is His desire that no one would perish… “for God so loved the world” (John 3:16).

In our King’s Throne Room, there is never-ending thunder and lightning. They declare His presence. His dominion. His holiness. And the sound of His voice is carried with clarity and authority above it all—it is stunning in the Throne Room of our King.

Our King’s views and insights are often far different to our own—not in bad or divisive ways—but in the most wise, insightful, creative and perfect ways. When our eyes and minds are set on Him, we can see the way He sees, and think the way He thinks. For example, because our King has removed our sins as far from us “as far as the East is from the West” (Psalm 103:12), we can do the same for our brothers and sisters. Additionally, because He has wiped our slates clean and He “remembers our sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12), we can do the same for our brothers and sisters. I feel this is important for us to realise, no matter which times or seasons we are living in.

On a much lesser note, the prince of the power of the air has been around since the beginning. He is a liar, a thief, and a thug. The voice of the prince of the power of the air, is, of course, carried on the airwaves, through the breath of prominent voices, mobs, and entertainment, in printed media and on social media feeds.

When the prince of the power of the air finds a home with people, he enslaves their minds to fear, anger, confusion and strife. His voice is like a box consisting of dark frequencies and powers of suggestion, and it sits atop the heads of his victims, muting their spiritual senses and causing them to move in time with his destructive proclamations. Like reeds swaying to and fro in poisonous waters, they are lulled into seeing the world through his eyes and relating to the world with his thoughts.

“Did God really say?” says the prince of the power of the air. “If you really are a son or a daughter of God, do x, y, and z.” “If you really care about what is going on across the globe, then fix it!” “Take your eyes off Jesus and focus on me! See what great powers I have? See what I am doing? See what I can do?” “Feel my wrath, my fear, my pure hatred of you because you bear the image of the creator.” “Ha! You are so very stupid! You have no idea as to the amount of light that could come from you. I relish in the fact that you don’t yet know that you are a son or a daughter of the King!”

The truth is, we are not subservient to the prince of the power of the air. We are not his sons and daughters. We were not designed to carry his brand. We were bought with a far greater price—with the blood of a far greater King who does not deal in manipulations, suggestive powers, and dark conquests.

Our King is the most high King who doesn’t just speak—He acts. He is our strong tower, our deliverer, our defender, our God in whom we trust. He lives in a place of constant victory. He conquered death and the grave and we therefore don’t need to partake in death and it’s sting.

Our King prophesied over Eve after “the fall.” He said that the serpent’s head would be crushed by the seed of mankind. And it was. Our King gave up His heavenly body to be born upon the earth and live in direct opposition to the prince of the power of the air. And when He died on the cross and went to hell, our King cast down the serpent’s authority—he crushed the skull of the prince of the power of the air.

Ephesians 2:1-9 says, “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience… But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

We have a decision to make. We have a choice to bend our ears to the lies and deceptions floating about in the airwaves above and around our heads, or we can recognise that our King has raised us up and seated us with Him in Heavenly places. We can, “Come up here, come up higher….” as He says. Our constant invitation is not to rely upon our earthly senses, but to extend our wings and catch the updrafts of His breath—of His words. In so doing, we soar higher than the earth’s airwaves… than the suggestions of a prince whose power is limited to our own agreement with him.

The truth is, our King is in residence. He has never not been. He is our refuge, our strong tower and our safe place—our God in whom we trust.

If we want to see change, we need to ignore the tired words being pitched to and fro across the globe by the prince of the power of the air. He is, quite frankly, boring, uncreative, and oh, so, repetitive. #yawn. The prince’s words haven’t worked in the past, and they won’t work now.

Our King wants His words and His frequencies to ride on the breath of our voices and out into the atmosphere. He wants us to speak those things that do not yet exist, into existence, and because he is a creative God, we have access to all of His creativity. Behold, He is doing something new (Isaiah 43:19).

We are a part of a Theocracy first and foremost, where our King beckons us to “come up higher.” Can you feel the updraft? The wind of His breath? The words of Him who is the truth? You have an invitation to catch the wind of His spirit right now—to see from Heaven to earth, instead of from earth to Heaven. Will you take Him up on His offer?

“Then suddenly, after I wrote down these messages, I saw a heavenly portal open before me, and the same trumpet-voice I heard speaking with me at the beginning broke the silence and said, “Ascend into this realm! I want to reveal to you what must happen after this.”

Instantly I was taken into the spirit realm, and behold—I saw a heavenly throne set in place and someone seated upon it. His appearance was sparkling like crystal and glowing like a carnelian gemstone. Surrounding the throne was a circle of green light, like an emerald rainbow. Encircling the great throne were twenty-four thrones with elders in glistening white garments seated upon them, each wearing a golden crown of victory. And pulsing from the throne were blinding flashes of lightning, crashes of thunder, and voices. And burning before the throne are seven blazing torches, which represent the seven Spirits of God. And in front of the throne there was pavement like a crystal sea of glass.

Around the throne and on each side stood four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind. The first living creature resembled a lion, the second an ox, the third had a human face, and the fourth was like an eagle in flight. Each of the four living creatures had six wings, full of eyes all around and under their wings. They worshiped without ceasing, day and night, singing,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty! The Was, the Is, and the Coming!” And whenever the living creatures gave glory, honor, and thanks to the One who is enthroned and who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fell facedown before the one seated on the throne and they worshiped the one who lives forever and ever. And they surrendered their crowns before the throne, singing:

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory, honour, and power, for you created all things, and by your plan they were created and exist” (Revelation 4).
