Catherine lives in a small country town in regional NSW, where she enjoys her days pondering the universe, planting whatever wherever, and removing the occasional snail.
There are many different areas in Catherine’s garden. For example, there is an oasis, a herb and vegetable garden, and a cottage garden. #shewillnowexplain
In the oasis garden, is a pond. The pond has become home to six fish: Spotty, Lottie, and Hulu Plus; CousCous, Nutella Please, and John. The fish love to appear from behind their rockery on occasion and check out the palm trees, she-oak, and smaller tropical plants that surround them. Mind you, outside the pond they don’t have water on-tap (!), so they can’t just leave their home to scope out their neighbourhood on a whim. Catherine occasionally feels sad about that, but then she moves on. Because there is a cat that frequents the yard… you see where she’s heading with this, don’t you? #wink
There is a herb and vegetable garden beside Catherine’s back door, which was lovingly planted for her by some good friends. The herb and vegetable garden is filled with parsley, lemon thyme, oregano, rosemary, mint, chives, rocket, beans, celery, leeks and garlic. #yum
Several other garden beds are located towards the back of Catherine’s home, where roses, salvia, sage, and fruit trees grow. Cockatoos, parrots, magpies and sparrows like to visit fairly frequently, as does the occasional animal from a neighbouring home, or a random drunkard. #ahwell
Recently, Catherine recognised her writing was a lot like her garden—a bit of this and a bit of that, but entirely an ecosystem of its own design. She never really knew what was going to pop onto her blank screen by way of keystroke, until it had already happened. Today it was poetry, while tomorrow could be a political review. Completely different garden beds. Completely different contents. Completely different purposes. That is why Catherine asked Soul Garden if she could house her multi-styled musings there. #itsaidyes!
Some of Catherine’s writings are fiction and some are non-fiction. Catherine is fairly certain you’ll be able to tell the difference between the two. If you can’t tell the difference… oh well. There’s always hope for humanity. #winkwink
As a follower of Jesus, Catherine loves to ponder who He is, what He does, and how He loves. She loves to reflect on life, quirky moments, and truth, and on occasion she will put up snippets of attempted micro-photography. #becauseitsfromhergarden #becausehercameraneedsexercise
